Note: This Privacy Policy is written to describe, in general terms, the categories of information a Discord bot such as Sky Devbot may need to process in order to operate its features. It uses cautious, non-specific language where exact data handling details are not independently verifiable, and it should not be read as a substitute for legal advice.
1 Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Sky Devbot ("we," "us," "our," or the "Bot") may collect, process, store, and protect information in connection with the operation of our Discord bot and related services (the "Services"). It applies to Users who interact with the Bot and to Server Owners who add it to their Discord Server.
Sky Devbot operates on the Discord platform and is not affiliated with Discord Inc. This Policy covers only our own handling of information; it does not cover Discord's own data practices, which are governed by Discord's Privacy Policy.
2 Information We Process
Depending on which features are used within a Server, Sky Devbot may process categories of information such as:
- Discord identifiers — such as User IDs, Server (Guild) IDs, Role IDs, and Channel IDs, which the Discord platform uses to identify accounts, servers, roles, and channels;
- Discord profile information — such as usernames or display names, as made available through Discord when a User interacts with the Bot;
- Command and interaction data — the commands, options, or inputs a User provides when interacting with the Bot;
- Server configuration data — settings that a Server Owner or administrator configures for the Bot's features within their Server;
- Moderation-related information — such as records generated by moderation or logging features that a Server chooses to enable;
- Statistics and activity indicators — such as counts or metrics generated by engagement-related features (for example, leaderboard or activity-tracking functionality), where such features are enabled; and
- Giveaway-related information — such as which Users have entered a giveaway hosted through the Bot, where that feature is used.
Some of this information is retained for as long as necessary to support the relevant feature (for example, configuration settings or moderation records), while other information may only be processed temporarily in memory while a command or interaction is being handled, without being permanently stored. Where we are not able to state with certainty whether a specific data point is stored versus only transiently processed, we describe it using the cautious language above rather than asserting a specific practice.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as government identification, financial details, or precise location data), and Users should not submit such information to the Bot.
3 How Information Is Collected
Information is generally obtained through:
- Discord's API, which provides the Bot with access to relevant account, server, role, and channel identifiers necessary to operate;
- commands and interactions that Users issue directly to the Bot;
- messages or events within a Server that trigger the Bot's features, where applicable;
- configuration actions taken by Server Owners or administrators; and
- other in-Server activity relevant to the specific feature being used (for example, reacting to a giveaway message).
4 Why Information Is Used
Where applicable, information may be used to:
- provide and operate the Bot's core functionality;
- apply and remember Server-specific configuration;
- support moderation and logging features that a Server chooses to enable;
- maintain staff-related tools and statistics where relevant;
- generate leaderboards or activity indicators for engagement features;
- run and administer giveaways;
- enforce permissions and role-based access within the Bot;
- help maintain the security and stability of the Services; and
- identify and prevent abuse, spam, or misuse of the Bot.
We do not use information collected through the Bot for advertising or for sale to third parties.
5 Message Data
Certain features may require the Bot to receive and briefly process message events within a Server (for example, to detect a command, count activity, or apply moderation rules) in accordance with the permissions granted to the Bot by the Server Owner. Except where a Server specifically enables a feature that requires retaining message-related information (such as logging for moderation purposes), the Bot does not aim to permanently store the content of Server messages. Where features rely on activity counts or statistics rather than message content itself, only the relevant counts or indicators are intended to be retained, not the underlying text. We retain relevant information only for as long as necessary to support the feature in question.
6 Database and Storage
Where persistent storage is used to support the Bot's features (such as configuration settings, moderation records, or statistics), that information is stored in a database used to operate the Services. Categories of information that may be stored include Discord identifiers, Server configuration values, moderation or warning records, and activity or statistics data, to the extent those features are enabled within a given Server. Access to stored information is limited to what is necessary to operate the relevant features.
7 Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the relevant feature or service, or as needed to comply with applicable legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Where a Server disables a feature or removes the Bot, associated data tied to that Server's configuration may no longer be actively used and may be removed in the course of routine maintenance, though we do not commit to a specific fixed timeframe for doing so.
8 Data Sharing
We do not sell information processed through Sky Devbot, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. However, because the Bot operates using Discord's platform and may rely on third-party hosting or infrastructure providers to run, information may be processed by those providers as necessary to operate the Services. We do not claim that information is "never" shared in any circumstance, as hosting and infrastructure providers necessarily process data on our behalf in order for the Bot to function.
9 Discord
Discord is a separate, independent platform operated by Discord Inc. Your use of Discord itself — including any information Discord collects about you — is governed by Discord's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which apply in addition to this Policy. We encourage you to review Discord's policies to understand how Discord handles your information.
10 Hosting and Infrastructure
Sky Devbot's data may be processed by the hosting and infrastructure providers necessary to run the Bot and its associated database. We have not named specific providers in this Policy where doing so is not confirmed as part of our current setup; if that changes in a way that materially affects how information is handled, this Policy will be updated accordingly.
11 Security
We take reasonable measures intended to help protect information processed through Sky Devbot from unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Users and Server Owners should also take care to manage their own Discord account security and permissions.
12 Data Deletion / Requests
If you would like to request the deletion of information associated with you, or have questions about information we may hold, please contact the Sky Devbot staff or development team through our official Discord support server. We will address requests as they relate to information within our control, though some information may be governed instead by Discord's own systems.
Join our Discord Server13 Children's Privacy
Sky Devbot is not specifically directed at children, and we do not intentionally collect unnecessary personal information from any User. Use of the Bot is subject to Discord's own applicable age requirements, and Users must comply with those requirements when using Discord and, by extension, our Services. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information in a manner inconsistent with Discord's policies, please contact us through our support server so the matter can be reviewed.
14 International Users
Discord is used by people around the world, and information processed through Sky Devbot may be handled in locations where the Bot or its supporting infrastructure operates, which may be different from your own country of residence. We do not make specific claims of compliance with any particular regional data protection framework (such as the GDPR) beyond taking the general, reasonable measures described in this Policy, and Users with specific regional privacy concerns should reach out through our support server.
15 Changes to the Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Bot's functionality or how information is processed. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Bot after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
16 Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, or would like to make a data-related request, please contact the Sky Devbot staff or development team through our official Discord support server.
Join our Discord Server17 Website Dashboard and Discord Login
If you use the optional Sky Devbot web dashboard, Discord OAuth2 asks for your Discord identity and the list of servers you belong to. The application uses those permissions to display only servers where you have Manage Server, Administrator, or ownership permissions and where the bot is installed.
The dashboard API temporarily holds your Discord OAuth access token and user identity in server memory to verify access. It uses secure HTTP-only login and OAuth state cookies, and an anti-forgery token for configuration changes. Dashboard sessions expire and are cleared when the bot restarts. The dashboard also records the acting Discord user ID, server ID, action, target setting and time for configuration changes in a server-specific audit table.
These features are used to authenticate administrators, apply configuration changes through existing bot settings, and maintain an audit history. They do not require your Discord account password. To request deletion or ask a question about data handled by Sky Devbot, contact us through the support server listed above.
